LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
United Way of La Porte County serves many communities living on the traditional homelands of the Potawatomi and Hopewell people. Other tribes such as the Ottawa and Sauk have also called this area home. Long before contact with Europeans, our region was a thriving, vibrant center for gatherers, traders, hunters, craftspeople, and culture bearers with ancient lineage and inextricable ties to the land. Today, we celebrate those who continue the stories and traditions of these beautiful communities.
