The mission of the United Way of LaPorte County is to improve the lives of the people of LaPorte County by mobilizing the caring power of our community.



United Way of LaPorte County is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.


United Way of LaPorte County carries out its mission by engaging in the following activities:

  • Assess, on a continuing basis, the need for human service programs.
  • Offer consultation in the undertaking of new work/services.
  • Promote high standards of operation, cooperation, economy, and efficiency.
  • Organize the solicitation and receipt of fund.
  • Develop as fully as possible the financial, material, and human resources needed to meet the human service needs of the greater county area.
  • Distribute and allocate the funds and resources received in an equitable and impartial manner.
  • Develop community support and commitment for the entire United Way organization through a systematic communication program.
  • Receive property by gift, bequest, grant, or otherwise and to apply the income and/or principal from its use or sale in accordance with the directions and intent of the donor.
  • No substantial part of the activities of this corporation shall be for the purposes of attempting to influence legislation and none of its activities shall consist of participating in or intervening in any political campaign for public office.
  • No part of the net earnings of this corporation shall inure to the benefit of any individual but shall be used for charitable purposes.
